A new addition to the (Geffre) Amundson family...

And...There's a whole lotta beef going on!

Ethan William Amundson was born on January 24, 2006. He weighed in at 7lbs 6 oz.

Unfortunately, he stopped breathing after he was born by caesarian. They put a tube down his thro0at and used a hand pump to help him breath. Since we don not have a neonatal unit at our hospital, the Fargo Hospital was called to come and pick him up. The Life Flight helicopter was sent out but had to return because of bad weather. They then sent out an ambulance with a special team on board. They took Ethan to the neonatal unit in Fargo. Andrea got a glimpse of him right before they left. The next day, Brad and I (Kathy) drove to Fargo to see him. They had stabilized him and taken out the tube from his throat. Brad got to hold him for a few minutes. They did not know what had caused his problems, but they put him on an antibiotic and said they would keep him for a week. Andrea got out of the hospital on Friday, January 27 and we headed out for Fargo again. He got better every day. On Tuesday, January 31, they released Ethan from the hospital and we took him home. He seems to be just fine now—and of course we spoil him a little. His older brother Thomas is pretty fascinated by this new little person. Just wait, we tell him…
